Survivorship and Long-Term Psycho-Oncological Support

The completion of active cancer treatment does not necessarily mark the end of psychological challenges. Follow-up appointments, investigations, or physical symptoms may trigger renewed worry and memories of previous treatment experiences. Long-term psycho-oncological support can assist individuals in adapting to life after treatment. Counselling may help patients develop healthier approaches to uncertainty and manage persistent concerns regarding recurrence. Survivors can also explore personal goals, meaningful activities, relationships, and sources of fulfilment beyond their cancer experience. Psychological support can encourage a gradual transition from a primary focus on illness towards broader aspects of health, identity, and quality of life. The overall objective is to promote long-term psychological wellbeing, resilience, confidence, meaningful adjustment, and a renewed sense of purpose.
